With the world advocating to be a more salad loving world the question that comes to mind is what should we put in our salads? How can we make them healthy while still enjoyable?
This article brings to our attention so many great ways to eat a healthy salad! How about swapping dried mangos for apples, and salted nuts for raw ones. Instead of peas and corn, wheat berries are a much more filling choice. Bacon Bits? Why not try chickpeas!
We also know that adding too much dressing can ruin the whole salad. Great swaps for creamy dressing are tahini or avocado! Crumbled tofu is a better alternative to crumbled cheese and homemade croutons from bread is a better way to go then store bought. To add even more crunch you can also use sunflower seeds or jicama! Who new cutting calories could be so savory?!
Key Points:
- We need to skip the raisins and mango strips, they can be high in sugar. Better to have fresh grapes.
- As far as the nuts they can have to much fat in them. They also can have too much salt.
- Corn and starchy vegetables are carbs. If we are going to put carbs on our salad only 1 is best.
