Accessing inner peace is a path to happiness. This can happen in many ways, one of the easiest and most difficult is mindfulness. Being “in the moment” sounds simple, and it can be stripped down to it’s essentials, it’s getting there that is the difficult part.
Mindfulness is focusing on the moment. The moment we are living right now, not what happened 20 minutes ago, not what we’re going to say to our child’s teacher. It is what is going on right now. How the food we are eating tastes, what noises we are hearing, being present for a conversation with someone, not thinking out tomorrow’s grocery list. Stress is a part of all of our lives, there is no getting around that. What can change is how we deal with that stress and make it work for us.
Key Points:
- Lack of awareness prevents us from fully engaging with our surroundings.
- Responding deliberately instead of with a knee-jerk reaction can improve personal growth and relationships.
- Combining full engagement and deliberate reactions can eliminate stress from our lives.
“The addition of mindfulness and meditation into a daily routine can make a huge difference to our overall quality of life.”
