If you like fruit and you want to ward off the flu naturally, persimmons may be the right berry for you. With over 80% of the RDI for vitamin C in one fruit, persimmons could be the perfect superfood. What gives persimmons their superfruit status?
In addition to being extremely high in vitamins B and C, they are packed with antioxidants, which boost the immune system and are fantastic for your skin. As an added bonus, they are high in fiber and the mineral manganese, so they’re great for eyesight and bones as well.
Persimmons can be consumed fresh, raw or cooked. They are delicious alone or are a perfect ingredient in any salad. A word of caution: persimmons are very soft, almost jelly-like, so pick and handle with care. Ideally, persimmons should be eaten in the autumn when their nutrient count is at its peak.
