It doesn’t take much effort to come across a plethora of new fad diets. All of them promise remarkable weight loss, but only if dieters rigidly follow specific and sometimes rather bizarre guidelines.
However, blog author Matilda Iglesias says that diets like these create food zombies so obsessed with the rules of their diets that they ignore the messages their bodies are sending them.
Iglesias refers to a variety of nutritionists to support the point that no particular diet provides a guarantee of weight loss for everyone. Rather, she says, dieters should follow basic nutritional guidelines, individualizing them for their own needs.
Instead of worrying about concentrating on or eliminating a particular food group, dieters should concentrate on consuming a balanced diet that works for them. In this way, Iglesias explains, dieters can become healthy eaters rather than food-obsessed zombies.
Key Points:
- Diets don’t let you listen to your body, and can turn you into a zombie
- Nutrition isn’t as complicated as everyone thinks, its all about adopting new habits.
- Stick to the basics and all the details will fall in line with your lifestyle.
“Many diets cause people to become robotic in their actions, disregarding any feedback from their body. They simply follow the rules at all costs, no matter what their body may say in return to these actions.”
