Melissa always turned her nose up at the people doing water aerobics. She thought water aerobics were for older people or wimps. One day when her back was hurting she decided to do water aerobics.
The trainer was yelling at her class to motivate them. She chose the medium heavy weights to use. She was surprised at how much was involved with water aerobics. He heart sped up, and her muscles actually got a workout.
She said that in swimming you try to go through the water but with water aerobics, you push against the water. Keeping the weights under the water is quite difficult. She said she would do water aerobics again and is sorry for turning her nose up at the people for doing them before she tried it.
Key Points:
- Water aerobics is for all age groups, not just for people in the older generation.
- Water aerobics is like pilates in the water, you need your core in the right position to benefit from it fully.
- Although water aerobics is easier on the joints, it is not an easy, effortless workout.
“It kind of felt like Pilates in the water.”
